Subramaniam Swamy may not have got the verdict he hoped for from the CBI Special Court in his appeal against Home Minister P Chidambaram on Saturday but he extracted some satisfaction at a lecture soon after hosted by Moneylife Foundation on the 2G scam and the general state of corruption in the country. A long-time reader of Business Standard reports that he was in top form with his one-liners and jokes. Samplers: (i) “Someone asked Manmohan Singh what 2G was all about. He replied, ‘Soniaji and Rahulji’!”; (ii) “Kapil Sibal claimed that there was zero loss in the 2G spectrum allocation. That was because he could not count beyond zero, reflecting the poor state of our educational system” and (iii) Tihar jail authorities asked Swamy why he was sending “Madrasis” [sic] to their prisons. Asked what was wrong with that, the reply was that they all demanded masala dosas. So Swamy assured them that he would send an Italian next time, so they could order pizzas.
