His boss may have been upset enough to tick him off publicly, but there’s a reason why minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor is so agitated about the proposed new visa rules. The home ministry has said no tourist can now visit the country within a period of two months of the last visit.
The loving husband that he is, Tharoor is worried that his wife, a Canadian citizen working in New York, has to have a mandatory cooling off period of two months between visits. Whether Tharoor’s tweet was only a clever husband’s way of impressing his spouse or genuine concern can be easily demonstrated since the home ministry allows for relaxation of the rule in “genuine cases”!
