The boss is busy

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has earned a title for himself: ‘The boss’. For Mukherjee, an old Congress hand, this assumes great significance as it has come from no one else but his political boss - Congress President Sonia Gandhi. While Mukherjee has been able to prove himself as a loyal lieutenant of Gandhi during the past few years, Gandhi at times calls him "boss," especially when issues related to the Lok Sabha come up. As Mukherjee is the Leader of the Lok Sabha, Gandhi recently advised some Congressmen to "go to the boss" to resolve their issues. After the hectic Budget session of Parliament, Mukherjee received a missive from Gandhi and the prime minister: Take a few days off and take rest. Mukherjee, however, remains busy as usual.
