The exit poll BJP is banking on

Business Standard New Delhi
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were in a subdued mood after most exit polls gave the Janata Parivar alliance the edge in the Bihar Assembly elections, which ended on November 5. They were seen asking journalists about their assessment of Bihar at Union Minister Prakash Javadekar's Diwali gathering on Saturday. Most journalists didn't have positive things to say about the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance's chances in Bihar. The best-case scenario, some suggested, was that the NDA might cross the halfway mark of 122 seats on the back of the BJP's better cadre and election management system. Despite the dim forecast, BJP leaders reminded the journalists gathered as well as their supporters that political research organisation Today's Chanakya had predicted 155 seats for the NDA and that this exit poll had got many of its forecasts right in the past. If nothing else, Today's Chanakya seems to have lifted the spirits of the BJP leaders and its rank and file till the poll results are declared.
