 The journey to Coorg was idyllic, the peace of the lush green undulating coffee plantation country a total contrast to the martial image of the land.

 It made you wonder how such formidable warriors like Cariappa and Thimmaya could have come out of such soft and gentle country.

 The peace of the surroundings and the quite of our abode in Mercara went hand in hand and I was about to settle down with a long-delayed sundowner, determined to enjoy it all when the phone rang, the cellphone that is. And that defined the next couple of days.
