Homes in the old Asiad Village are much sought after in New Delhi, even by bureaucrats and public-sector unit officers. It's a pleasant, green enclave in the middle of chaotic South Delhi. But the Commonwealth Games Village across the river has a less pleasant reputation. At the time of the 2010 games, numerous stories appeared about the Village's shoddy construction, flooded basements, and so on. That's why rumours that 300-plus houses in the flats are being allocated to various government servants have set off considerable heartburn. Said one babu: "Living across the river is bad enough, but in a place associated with 'bad hygiene' and the CWG disaster?"
