After Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh’s latest statement that he is sometimes under political pressure to clear projects, various Congress leaders are advocating different ways to deal with him. One suggested ignoring him since anyone who works with him knows he is prone to making indiscreet comments. Another suggested that those who Ramesh names should confirm that they had indeed pressured him in the national interest. That way Ramesh would have to explain how he defined national interest. Officially, the Congress has left it to Ramesh to defend his outburst.
