An agreement to speed up project implementation between the roads and railways ministries earlier this week provided an opportunity for secretary for roads Vijay Chibber to underline his credentials with the ruling dispensation at the Centre. Chibber rightly pointed out that the agreement was long overdue. "The solution was so simple but it took the PM to tell us to do this work. We had 50 years to do this, well before the PM told us to coordinate," he said in his introductory remarks, the import of which was not lost on those present.
