While starting his Gram Suraj Abhiyaan, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh thought he’d get the usual litany of complaints — no water in the tubewell, electricity available for only 25 minutes a day, and so on — as he paid surprise visits to villages. So, he was really surprised when, in a remote village in Korba district, a woman urged the chief minister to bring back her husband who had eloped with her sister. Needless to say, he couldn’t say he would “look into the matter” or redress her grievance at the earliest.
