At an IIT Bombay event, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, an alumnus of the institute, became nostalgic. He spoke at length of his days at the institute and the food available at its canteens.
Suddenly he became cautious: "I guess I should say (IIT) Mumbai. If I continue saying Bombay some people sitting here might start an agitation in front of my house," he said.
Then he added, almost as an afterthought, that his words should be taken in the spirit they had been said and not treated with "the same seriousness as one treated the Line of Control".
