Tripping over words

Business Standard New Delhi
An advertisement featuring a picture of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has created ripples in the political circles of the state, as it uses the Hindi word "upeksha" (neglect) instead of "apeksha" (expectation). The ruling coalition was livid: Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav said those who published the advertisement should have proofed the text.

For the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Opposition, it was a source of mirth. A BJP leader said, "There could be no better example of how the company one keeps affects one's character." The reference was to an earlier incident: Tejaswi Yadav's elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav was guilty of the same malapropism while taking oath as a Cabinet minister in the state last year.
