At a panel discussion on fiscal federalism, Yashwant Sinha courteously apologised to former Planning Commission member B L Mungekar before embarking on a criticism of the Commission for what he considered micromanagement of the state's finances and functioning. But Mungekar, who was a member from 2004 to 2009, was not in the least offended. Instead he instantly responded, "That is okay, because it started happening only after I left." Later, he even joined Sinha in criticising the functioning of the Planning Commission.
