Lucknow's iconic Coffee House, a favourite hangout of the city's politicians and journalists, has been redone, but not without consequences. Its usual patrons, most of them elderly used to spending hours at the place, complain bitterly about the management's "conspiracy" to discourage them from visiting the place. Why else would the management replace the earlier comfortable seating with straight-backed chairs? All the same, the elderly patrons enjoyed their moment of gentle revenge last Friday when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sacked Aruna Singh for anti-party activities. Singh has been running the Coffee House for some years now.
