Finance has become a vital function in these lean times and no one understands this better than D Shivakumar, who took charge as chairman and CEO of PepsiCo India recently. At a recent get-together with the company's top management team in India he described Kimsuka Narasimhan, the chief financial officer, to journalists as "my boss. Without her, I can't do anything!"
