Venkaiah Naidu was the only senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who did not use a chopper for campaigning during the just-concluded elections. Even after having campaigned for the party in the heat and dust of the southern peninsula, Naidu is not complaining. Probably because he knows that he is responsible for pushing the general elections to summer months. In 2004, Naidu, as BJP president, had recommended to the National Democratic Alliance government to go for elections six months before the due date, which changed the October schedule of the elections.
