With Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal is, like those in many other states, making an extra push for publicity with all kinds of advertisements flaunting the Trinamool Congress Party's achievements. But her government clearly wants to be one step ahead of others. The state information and cultural department, which handles state government publicity, has issued a notice cancelling all leave for its employees for February citing work overload. In fact, the notice says employees may have to turn up on Sundays if the need arises.
