Durgapur gets leisure hub

Bengal Shrachi Housing Development Ltd (BSHDL) would be building what is being described as the eastern region's first one-stop entertainment hub in a minor city, at Durgapur in West Bengal.
 
The hub will be called the Junction and would offer commercial and recreational space at the City Centre in Durgapur. A fast growing commercial and education centre, Durgapur had more than 20 private colleges besides steel plants and engineering factories, and served urban clusters in nearby Jharkhand as well.
 
Junction would offer over 400,000 sq. ft., on six floors and a basement for shopping and entertainment.
 
Spread over land area of 2.8 acres, the amusement zone and mall was being designed by the architect firm of Stephen Coates of aCTa International.
 
It will house cafes, departmental stores, a multiplex, international fashion labels, home electronic stores, gaming zones, restaurants and other entertainment. S K Todi, director of BSHDL, said the company was eager to expand in the emerging industrial belt of Durgapur with a premium entertainment destination.
 
Junction' was the group's first retail & realty venture not only in West Bengal but also mini metros and towns.
 
Junction would combine the right mix of products with services, and value-shopping with a global environment, claimed director Rahul Todi.
 
BSHDL recently completed three large format projects, named Greenwood Park, Greenwood Nook & Greenwood Park Extension, and was setting up BlockByBlock, a home solutions mall, as also Synthesis Business Park, a 257-acre satellite township in Burdwan, and a Rs 100 crore 'Neo "� City' on the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar highway.
