Since the purchase of gold around Dhanteras and Diwali is regarded auspicious, demand for the yellow metal is likely to surge over the next few days. All investors should have a 10-15 per cent allocation to gold in their portfolios for diversification, to hedge against equity-market volatility, and for protection against inflation.
