In the first four days of its maiden membership drive, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has managed to draw more than 1 million members across the country.

The ‘Main bhi Aam Aadmi’ campaign started on 10 January aiming to get 10 million members by 26 January.

The party got maximum members enrolled through missed call facility. Around 650,000 people joined the party by giving a miss call from their mobile phones. 100,000 citizens sent SMS to join the party and 450,000 members enrolled through the party website.

The party said that it has received huge response from all parts of the country.

“Within four days of the launch of the campaign, more than ten lakh people have taken membership of the party and many more will be joining the party in the next few days,” said Gopal Rai, party leader who is in-charge of the campaign.

The party got the highest members registered from Uttar Pradesh where it plans to contest all the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming general elections.

The party leader said that there is not a single state in the country from where it has got no enrollment.

AAP also launched two more numbers as it witnessed some technical snags in its current enrollment number.

Rai said: "To tackle the technical issues, AAP has launched two more new numbers '08082807715' and '08082807716' so that people who wish to join the party do not face any difficulty."
