Buoyed by over 500,000 memberships received so far in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be raking up fresh issues on corruption, power tariff hikes and forced acquisition of pastureland in the state.

Looking to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections, the party will also set up a state level screening committee for choosing potential candidates to be fielded in elections.

"In a run up to the Lok Sabha elections, in the coming days we will rake up issues on corruption and improper administration in Gujarat. We will also raise issues of forced acquisition of pastureland and unwarranted hike in power tariff in Gujarat," said Sanjay Singh, core committee member of AAP who was on a visit to the state.

Moreover, in the coming days, the party will set up a state level screening committee to scrutinise candidatures being received for the upcoming elections.

"The committee will send its recommendations after due scrutiny to the Political Affairs Committee in Delhi," Singh added.

Taking a dig at both Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Singh said that both the parties are competing over who is more corrupt. "Both the parties are competing wherein while one party says it has Yeddyurappa, the other has Kalmadi," he added.

Meanwhile, in terms of "improper administration", Singh said that the party will debate over Gujarat's Rs  1.40 lakh crore debt in near future.

Citing an example of Delhi, Singh said that a CAG audit was required since power companies were showing Rs 300 crore of power purchase from a plant which is closed. "Hence, even in Gujarat, we will take up such issues with the local regulator," he added.
