Action against Shiv Sena MPs demanded

Around 11 Shiv Sena MPs allegedly forced a Muslim catering supervisor who was fasting for Ramzan to eat a chapati

Press Trust of India New Delhi
JD(U) and BSP today demanded action against Sena MPs over an alleged incident of forcing a Muslim to eat a chapati to break his Ramzan fast.

"If the news reports are true then Centre should act immediately" and arrest those involved, BSP supremo Mayawati said outside Parliament.

It was reported that a group of around 11 Shiv Sena MPs, apparently angry over not being served Maharashtrian food, allegedly forced a Muslim catering supervisor who was fasting for Ramzan to eat a chapati at the new Maharashtra Sadan in the national capital last week.

Demanding lodging of FIR against Shiv Sena MPs, Janata Dal(U) MP Ali Anwar Ansari charged, "It was aimed at communalising the atmosphere before the assembly elections in Maharashtra. The issue has been raised in the House. A wrong message has gone to the outside world through this incident. We have demanded an FIR against Shiv Sena MPs.
