M K Alagiri, who was suspended temporarily by its party DMK, today expressed his "shock" on comments made by his father and DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi. On Tuesday the 89-yeard old Karunanidhi alleged that Alagiri told him that his younger son Stalin would die in 3-4 months.

The chains of events clearly shows the family war in the DMK is getting ugly. The war between the two brothers - MK Alagiri and MK Stalin.

On Tuesday Karunanidhi said that his elder son Alagiri predicted the death of his younger brother M K Stalin, who was seen as potential successor of Karunanidhi.

"Not even in my dreams I thought such charges would be levied on me. I will stand by the party cadres. The cadres know me," Alagiri told reporters in Madurai. He went on to say that he would take his father's remarks as birthday wishes.

Karunanidhi said, “use of unsavoury words against him (Stalin), functioning in a manner not in line with the post he holds in the party, giving media interviews violating party code of conduct are some of the reasons that led to Alagiri’s suspension from the party.”

On January 24, DMK said that it is temporarily suspending Former Union Minister and Party’ South Zone organising secretary Alagiri in the interests of party’s welfare, according to the Party.

“Alargiri has been nurturing unknown hatred against Stalin for a long time. He came to my bedroom and complained about Stalin using unsavoury words and shouted in anger that Stalin would die in 3-4 months. No father can tolerate such words. But as I am the party leader I tolerated that,” the 89-year old Karunanidhi narrated about morning the drama, which was held at his bed room on January 24 morning.

While stating that as the party's leader he cannot tolerate such threats, said Karunanidhi.

Reacting to the allegations, Alagiri refuted Karunanidhi's charges and said he only discussed about the issues faced by the party cadres and expressed their feelings. "I also expressed my feelings on how party elections were held and all these issues were discussed with other leaders including Duraimurugan"

Alagiri further said that, "I told the leader (Karunanidhi) that whatever matters faxed or letters to the Party's headquarter is not getting forwarded to him that is why he choose to come and discuss the issues face to face."
