Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Friday said India needed a strong law to stop forcible conversions but said the "so-called secular parties" were unlikely to support such a move because of "their vote bank politics". Shah was addressing an event organised by a private television news channel. Janata Parivar leaders Lalu Prasad, Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar criticised the BJP for demonising the Muslims of the country.
