Anandiben Patel, the first woman chief minister of Gujarat, allotted portfolios on Thursday but keeping several departments with herself.
Patel's mentor and prime minister-designate Narendra Modi had handled 10 portfolios when he was the chief minister. Patel would be handling more than 13.
She took away the finance ministry from Nitin Patel, and gave it to Saurabh Patel.
The chief minister, while retaining the portfolios that she handled in the Modi government - revenue, urban development and housing construction - also took over industries, general administration, home, administrative reforms and training, climate change, Narmada, kalpsar, disaster management, ports and information and broadcasting and the other unallotted departments.
