BS Reporter Hyderabad
As part of its plans to focus on SMAC (social media, mobile, analytics and cloud) technologies, Andhra Pradesh is contemplating integrating government payments through mobile devices, and is in discussion with telecom services provider Vodafone to implement the same.

According to officials, the government would roll out a pilot project in one district to start with, and depending on its success would extend it to all the other 12 districts.

Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu advised the Vodafone delegation that came calling from Mumbai to look into simplifying payment of bills, pension and other issues via mobile phones, to which the delegation agreed and said it would come back with an action plan and give a presentation to Naidu.

To make broadband services available to all the villages in Andhra Pradesh, the state government has also assured to facilitate expansion of Vodafone services and remove hurdles for a greater network coverage.
