The Andhra Pradesh government is holding its first cabinet meeting on Thursday in Visakhapatnam. The Cabinet is expected to discuss the constitution of an expert committee on farm loan waiver and Assembly session starting on June 19 among other things.

The ministers were allotted portfolios tomorrow.

While most of the 19 ministers were allotted multiple subjects or subjects clubbed together as a single portfolio since the upper limit on the Cabinet strength has come down in proportion to the number of MLAs in the residual Andhra Pradesh, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu left six slots vacant for future expansion.

The chief minister kept energy, infrastructure, investments, cinematography and tourism, general administration (GAD), law & justice in addition to the all unallocated subjects including excise with himself.

Two deputy chief ministers, KE Krishna Murthy and N Chinarajappa, were given revenue and home portfolios respectively while Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, a senior most minister, got finance, commercial taxes and legislative affairs.

Interestingly, most members in Naidu's Cabinet are first time ministers.

Meanwhile, BJP members Kamineni Srinivas and P Manikyala Rao were given health and medical education and endowments department respectively.
