The first day of the winter session of the assembly was adjourned today morning till Friday after paying rich tributes to the memories of two former members, including former speaker Somanath Rath, who passed away recently. The members also expressed their condolence over the death of five paramilitary personnel killed in action. After the obituary reference, the House was adjourned till Friday.
"All the questions scheduled to be tabled today were considered to be presented," said Pradip Amat, Speaker.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the condolence motion.

The House observed a minute's silence for the late members and the martyrs.
Finance minister Prasanna Acharya is likely to present the supplementary budget in the House on Friday. The winter session having 23 working days is likely to be stormy as the opposition parties have trained their guns on issues like rising violence against women, cyclone relief distribution scam in Cuttack Municipal Corporation, etc, to corner the treasury benches.
