Assembly speaker Rohani dies of heart attack

Rohani was elected to the assembly from Jabalpur, joined Jansangh in 1965

Madhya Pradesh Assembly speaker and MLA from Jabalpur Cantt Ishwardas Rohani died of heart attack this afternoon. Rohani, 67, is survived by two sons and four daughters.

Born on June 30, 1946 in Karachi, Rohani was elected to the assembly from Jabalpur, family sources told BS.  

He joined Jansangh in 1965 and served as member of legislative assembly for four times.  

He was deputy speaker of the assembly from 1998 to 2003, he was state assembly speaker since 2003. He was known for his legislative acumen.

“He suffered a massive heart attack and rushed to a hospital but died during treatment,” his political friend said. Another source said, “Doctors made all efforts to resuscitate him but in vain.”
