Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi, along with his team, will visit Bihar on August 7 to review preparations for the upcoming assembly polls. The team will meet representatives of various political parties on August 7 and top officials to district-level officials on August 8 to make elaborate security plans for an error-free election process, officials in the Election Commission said. The dates of the elections would be announced after the meetings. This is crucial because the Model Code of Conduct will kick in the day the Election Commission announces the election schedule. All the goodies the Centre has to bestow on Bihar ahead of the elections will be announced during this week.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address three "parivartan" rallies (rallies for change) in Bihar this month to bolster BJP's prospects in the elections. The rallies will be held at Gaya on August 9, Saharsa on August 19 and Bhagalpur on August 30. Tthe venues have been chosen in such a manner that they covered about 10 adjoining districts of Bihar. Modi addressed a rally in Muzaffarpur in Bihar on July 25 and took digs at the leadership of the Janata Dal (United) and Rashtriya Janata Dal of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad, respectively. The term of the Bihar assembly will end in November.
