A BJP leader today lodged a police complaint against Trinamool Congress MLA Nirmal Majhi for wondering in a speech whether people should burn "living effigies" of doctors affiliated to the CPI(M)'s medical wing.
J C Pal, a professor and a doctor by profession, who is also a leader of the BJP, lodged the complaint with the Muchipara police station under Kolkata Police against Majhi. Copies of the complaint have been sent to West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and state Home Secretary Basudev Banerjee.
"We have received a copy of a complaint lodged at Muchipara police station under Kolkata Police," Officer in charge of Bidhannagar North PS (Bidhanagar Police commissionerate) Santanu Koar confirmed.

Majhi, president of Trinamool backed Progressive Doctors Association, alleged that North Bengal Medical College and Hospital principal Dr Anup Kumar Roy, who was suspended following the outbreak of encephalitis in north Bengal on August 4, was irregular in attending office.
"Roy is a leader of CPI(M)'s Association of Health Service Doctors. He used to attend office only for two days and remain in Kolkata for the rest of the five days (in a week," the footage showed him saying at a programme.
