The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday demanded "immediate action" against the two shopkeepers who killed a 19-year-old from Arunachal Pradesh here.
Staging a protest outside Rajghat, Vijay Goel, president of the Delhi BJP, said the party was in solidarity with people from the northeast.
"Such incidents are unfortunate. Students from north-eastern states have been harassed in the past also. This must stop," Goel said.
Nido Tania was beaten up by the shopkeepers Wednesday in south Delhi's Lajpat Nagar market following a quarrel over his appearance and clothing. He died in a hospital Thursday.
