Congress leader Manish Tewari on Saturday said that if the NDA government had taken a decision over railway fares, then they must take the responsibility for it and stop blaming the UPA for everything.
"It is very important for the BJP to understand that if they are ready to take a decision, they must take the responsibility for it. UPA always staked claims for the policies introduced during our tenure," said Tewari.
"It is wrong to blame UPA for everything. Modi has made big statements few days earlier, just within a month, the double standards of the government have been exposed. Their decisions are rhetorical to what they have said during elections," he added.
Earlier today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Siddharth Nath Singh defended the rail fare hike, calling it a strong and effective measure to counter Congress' failure.
Naqvi told ANI, "Correction of the Congress' failures is the priority," adding, "The challenges the country is facing is an inheritance passed by the people who are protesting against it.
People of the country have been outraged by the government's decision on railway fares.
