BJP to corner Akhilesh on land grabbing cases: Amit Shah

The opposition parties have alleged the encroachers had the blessings of the ruling dispensation & its top leaders

Castigating the Akhilesh Yadav government over Mathura incident, where about 25 persons, including two senior policemen were killed in violence, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Tuesday announced to corner the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) over its "tradition" of land grabbing.

Mathura City Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukul Dwivedi and Station House Officer (SHO) Santosh Kumar Yadav were amongst those killed, when an unsuspecting police team was attacked during an anti-encroachment drive in the religious town last week.

The police were acting on the directions of Allahabad High Court to get the public park vacated from the members of an organisation, who had been squatting for about two years now.

 

The opposition parties have alleged the encroachers had the blessings of the ruling dispensation and its top leaders.

Addressing a news conference here this evening, Shah claimed the Mathura incident was worrisome for the country, wherein a massive encroachment could take place in the heart of the city and that policemen were lynched and shot brazenly.

"It shows that the SP government is most insensitive and shelters criminals and anti-social elements over land grabbing," he added.

Shah announced BJP would now advertise an email id, where the general public could complain about cases of land grabbing by goons. "We would fight such cases through agitation apart from taking administrative and legal recourse."

Taking a swipe on Akhilesh, he quipped there were multiple chief ministers in UP and everyone knew their identities and standing in government.

"I appeal to the people of UP to give a chance to BJP to from the next government. The country cannot grow unless UP develops at a faster rate due to its size and huge population," he said. UP polls are due in early 2017.

Shah flayed the state for the hardships in Bundelkhand, which is facing drought and alleged mismanagement and mining scams under Akhilesh rule.

He claimed the state was putting impediments with regards to the implementation of central schemes in UP and instead putting the blame on the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

Shah said under Modi, India had clocked highest growth in production of coal, ethanol, energy, rural gas connection, urea, railway investment, ports' cargo handling, vehicles, software exports etc.
