CBI argues for SC oversight in telecom case

The CBI will resume its arguments on Friday

BS Reporter New Delhi
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday defended the order of the Supreme Court in the telecom spectrum case on barring all other courts from entertaining any petition on the scam. It said the investigations into the connected series of deals spanning nine years were not over and, therefore, the SC's comprehensive monitoring was justified.

The CBI will resume its arguments on Friday. K K Venugopal, senior counsel for the CBI, was replying to the arguments of an array of senior lawyers such as Ram Jethmalani, Harish Salve and Mukul Rohtagi, representing the accused persons standing trial. Among the list of accused are Shahid Balwa, Asif Balwa and Ravinder Chandolia.
