Chouhan good enough for BJP to win MP polls: Prabhat Jha

Says Narendra Modi is not needed in the state

Press Trust of India Jabalpur (MP)
A BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh has expressed confidence that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is good enough to lead the state to victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Stressing that the BJP will contest this year's Assembly elections under the leadership of Chouhan, state BJP unit vice president Prabhat Jha said, "We think that Chouhan is good enough for the BJP to win the upcoming Madhya Pradesh polls and Narendra Modi was not needed here."

However, he told reporters here last evening that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will come and campaign for the MP Assembly elections, slated around year end.

Prabhat recalled that Modi had come to Madhya Pradesh as BJP in-charge for the Assembly elections held in December 1998.

His remarks assumed some significance in view of the fact that veteran BJP leader L K Advani had earlier praised Shivraj Singh Chouhan and put him in almost the same league as Narendra Modi.

Jha also criticised Union Minister Kamal Nath and alleged that he was not a political leader, but a businessman.
