Cong using proxies to target Modi: BJP

Congress has alleged the illegal snooping of a woman architect was done at the behest of Modi

Facing sustained Congress attack on its Prime Ministerial candidate, BJP today alleged the ruling party is engaging in "mafia-style politics" to target the opposition through proxies like CBI and IAS officer Pradeep Sharma as it cannot defeat them in an open contest.

Talking to reporters here, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi charged Congress is resorting to "such dirty tricks" to target Narendra Modi as it is set for a "shameful defeat" in elections.

"Congress is depressed, disappointed and frustrated today. But we are neither surprised nor angry with the mental state of Congress. In fact, we pity them," Naqvi said.

Congress has alleged the illegal snooping of a woman architect was done at the behest of Modi.

"Since Congress is aware that it has morally lost the elections, it is now taking the help of proxies. But it should understand that the fight on the ground is not fought through proxies. Congress should come out of the veil. These proxies are a spent force and by using them not only will Congress face certain defeat but also a sad one," Naqvi said.

The main opposition sought to corner Congress on issues of price rise, growing unemployment, terrorist and Maoist violence and charged it has reneged on its promise to deal with them.

"Congress feels that through dirty tricks and criminal conspiracies it can save itself. It should rename the party as Indian Conspiracy Congress. It is not going to succeed in its designs," the BJP leader said.

The opposition party questioned Congress' suggestion that BJP should do a rethink on the PM candidate, saying Modi was not anointed after taking permission from them.

BJP has also taken strong objection to Congress posters in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh which make "derogatory" remarks against Modi. "We will take this issue to the Election Commission tomorrow," Naqvi said.
