Congress MLA joins BJP in Manipur

Congress MLA Yungkham Erabot resigned from the party and joined BJP today, in presence of its Manipur Pradesh President Ksh Bhabananda at the saffron party office here.

Erabot, who started his political career as a member of Samyukta Socialist Party under the leadership of Ram Manohar Lohiya, joined Congress later and got elected as an MLA in 1980, 1984, 1995, 2002, 2007 and 2012.

He became minister in-charge of various departments of Manipur like food and civil supplies, public health engineering, education, cooperative, art and culture, commerce and industries.

Erabot claimed he had been neglected by leadership of present Congress government and party organisation. Hence he joined BJP after submitting his resignation papers both as primary member of Indian National Congress as well as the party MLA.
