Congress workers today blocked tracks and stopped a train at Palam Railway Station here demanding immediate rollback of the increase in rail fares.
Protestors led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee's president Arvinder Singh Lovely torched an effigy of Union Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda during the demonstration.
Scores of Congress workers, including DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma and other senior leaders, were protesting against hike in rail fair near Palam police post.

"Congress workers will not sit silent till hike in rail fare is rolled back. Lakhs of people belonging to different states will get affected due to this hike as those living in Delhi go to their native place every week," said DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma.
Before blocking railway track at Palam Railways station, Congress workers also took out a march against the hike.
Sharma claimed that police resorted to mild lathicharge to evacuate the station following which the protest was called off.
