Women members from Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) met parliament Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan, here yesterday and submitted a memorandum demanding dismissal of Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) MP Tapas Pal for his anti-women remark.
Tapas Pal had threatened to kill Communist workers and have their women raped.
Social activist Annie D. Raja who also met the Speaker along with other members, said Pal's act is condemnable and they are demanding justice.
"We have requested and given a memorandum to Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan, in the form of complaint and have demanded that he should be banned from entering the parliament. The Speaker said she will do whatever is feasible and comes under her jurisdiction and legal code of conduct. His remark is really condemnable and cannot be forgiven as it has come from a lawmaker," she said.
The Communist Party of India (CPI) had also sought Pal's dismissal from the parliament and stringent action against him for making such derogatory comment.
Pal invited widespread condemnation after he was caught on camera threatening to send his men to the home of CPI-M leaders rape their women.
The Trinamool Congress had subsequently sought an apology from him.
Reportedly, the TMC has forgiven Pal on Wednesday (July 02) after he tendered an unconditional apology.
Meanwhile, CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat said Pal's comment reflects the reality of politics of terror and intimidation in West Bengal.
