Debate rages on who could hoist the tricolour in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa missed the funeral of former President of India, A P J Abdul Kalam, on account of ill health. So who is going to hoist the flag in Tamil Nadu on independence day ? Traditionally, some of the most important announcements by the CM have been made on Independence Day. The 2012 speech of the Tamil Nadu CM celebrated the AIADMK's electoral triumph. Now, in addition to the challenge of her own health, she has to consider the health of the party - namely decide on succession. And there is little clarity on that at this point. Of course, it is entirely possible that she recovers her strength over the next few days.
