Addressing the AICC meeting, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said that it is an honour  to speak to the soldiers of this great party. In an aggressive pitch, Gandhi highlighted the achievements of the UPA government.

Praising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Congress leader said that India has seen stability and growth under his leadership. He went on to add that through the RTI the party gave power to the information that was locked up.

Responding on prime ministerial candidate, Gandhi said: "The prime minister will be chosen according to the Constitution and will be elected by the MPs. I am your soldier and will do whatever you ask for."

The Amethi MP urged the PM to raise the cap on LPG cylinders to 12.

Criticising the opposition for its vote-bank politics, he said that they are the kind of people who will sell combs to the bald.

On women empowerment, he said: "We need to give more representation to women in politics. I want women reservation Bill to be passed in Parliament. I want half Congress members as women."

Taking credit for Aadhar, Gandhi said that it is the largest anti-graft platform in the world, and it is a contribution of the Congress party. Pointing to Mani Shankar Aiyar, he said that he has fought for the institution of Panchayati Raj.

Gandhi said that the bedrock of technology was set up by the Congress party. Every action that the party took before and after Independence is about giving people power. The answer lies in putting democratisation to the people. That is where the power lies, he added.

Launching a scathing attack on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the Amethi MP said that democracy is not the rule of one man. Democracy is about the rule of the people. The Congress is responsible for the unmatched transfer of power to the people.

He said that the Congress must open the doors for the youth. "Those who fight the elections should have Congress's vision deep rooted inside them. We have six bills in Parliament that will transform the fight against corruption. Unlike others we don't respond by complaining about all that is wrong. We dont respond by proposing oversimplied non-solutions," he said.
