Development important for improving security situation in Assam: Gogoi

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has asked the all the district administration of the state to accord "top priority" to development activities and ensure that welfare schemes reached down to all sections of society. He said only development could improve the security situation in Assam.

"The wheels of development have to move on and it should not be allowed to come to a halt because of law and order problem. Development activities have to be accorded top priority and the benefits of the welfare schemes launched by the Government have to percolate down to all sections of society," he said.Stressing on the thrust areas of the government, Gogoi called upon the officers to prioritise activities providing employment opportunities and ensuring fruitful engagement of the youth in order to wean them away from unlawful activities.
 

Other core issues for the government, the chief minister added, were providing drinking water and sanitation, addressing the needs of education and malnutrition and to check child trafficking.
