Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today alleged that a real-estate player has paid for 10,000 burqas (an outer garment worn by women in Islamic tradition) to be procured by the ruling BJP for its 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh' (party workers' congregation) to be organized here tomorrow.
On the other hand BJP state unit has brushed the allegation aside and said a “quotation” against burqas presented by an Indore-based shopkeeper has been wrongly presented as evidence before media. Digvijay further alleged that a Bhopal-based real estate top executive had paid Rs 42 lakh to the shopkeeper.
The prime ministerial candidate from BJP and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will address the 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh' in Bhopal.

Refuting the allegations, Kailash Vijayvergiya, state industry minister said here, “The bill presented by Digvijay Singh is fake. The owner of Zeenat Tailor has given a “quotation” against burqa and not a bill. He has refused to supply any burqa as alleged by Digvijay Singh and has also reported the incident to local Inspector General. It is in habit of Digvijay Singh to do petty politics. It does not match to his status.”
The minister said frustration has consumed the entire Congress leadership and which is why they have went down to make meaningless allegations. “Before making any allegation a senior leader like Digvijay Singh should have at least thought about the shopkeeper,” the minister said.
BJP’s minority cell president Hidayatullah Sheikh had urged the community members to remain present in burqa and skull cap. However the minister said, “It is not mandatory but if the community wants to show its presence in a way what is wrong in it. There is no dress code defined on the part of BJP or any of its members. Hidayatullah wants to communicate a message that Muslim community members are also part of the BJP and they want to show our central leadership in the mega congregation that Shivraj Singh will be the chief minister of the state for third time in a row.”
Digvijay Sing also named the real –estate player and the person who paid for burqas by presenting a bill before media persons in Indore today and said the relationship between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the builder are known to all.
