Sunday's attack on former Left Front minister Naren De led to noisy scenes in the West Bengal Assembly for the third consecutive day today with opposition LF legislators reiterating the demand for a statement from the Trinamool Congress government.
The Leader of the Opposition, Surya Kanta Mishra belonging to the CPI(M), raised the issue of attack on the septuagenarian Forward Bloc leader in the House.Mishra, during Mention Hour, claimed that De was forcibly discharged from the government hospital where he was admitted following the attack at Dhaniakhali in Hooghly district on Sunday.
When no reply came from the government LF MLAs who were holding placards with a photo of the injured De continued to shout and rushed to the well demanding a statement by the government and punishment for the perpetrators.

"I cannot force any minister to make a statement," Speaker Biman Banerjee said and with the din continuing adjourned the House for the recess.
Chief Whip of the Trinamool Congress Legislature Party Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay said the administration would take action against the offenders.
