Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today said he disagreed with the statements of some Congress leaders that a person can have a proper meal in just Rs 1 or 5.

"This could be an observation or opinion of an individual and I personally don't agree that one can eat well with just Re 1 or Rs 5," Gehlot told reporters here.

He said the Planning Commission and central government were working towards controlling poverty in the country and there was no room for controversies on the issue of food security.

He said the issue should be discussed in a rational manner.

Union Minister Farooq Abdullah and Congress leaders Raj Babbar and Rasheed Masood had made controversial claims about availability of meals at low cost following the release of poverty-related estimates by the Planning Commission.
