The Election Commission has held BJP nominee from Narela Assembly constituency, Vishwas Sarang guilty of violation of the model code of conduct during the recently-held Assembly elections, and reprimanded him.

Sarang, the sitting MLA from the seat, had reportedly donated Rs one lakh to a Jain temple when the poll code was in force ahead of the November 25 elections.

In his reply to the election commission, Sarang though admitted making donation, said it was done on the spur of the moment.

The EC found Sarang's reply unconvincing and held him guilty for flouting the code. It also reprimanded him over the incident.
