Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today said Congress should elevate its Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to the party's top post instead of "planting stories" about his "imminent elevation".

"Isn't Congress fed up of planting 'Rahul's imminent elevation' stories?" Omar, who was an ally of Congress in UPA-II, wrote on Twitter.

"Been reading them for years now. Just do it and let him get on," he said.
