The leader of the opposition in the Madhya Pradesh assembly Ajay Singh said here today that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should explain why his government "ran away" from the assembly on July 11 without discussing the no-confidence motion.
Addressing a meeting on the motion here today, the Congress leader claimed that the day he had announced that he would bring a no-confidence motion, the BJP had decided not to allow a discussion on it.
Ajay said that the BJP government had made fun of the rights of the opposition many times in recent years, but what happened on July 11 showed that Chouhan had snuffed out the life of democracy.
He alleged that Chouhan had "run away" from the no-confidence motion because his relatives had got wealthy by adopting corrupt means during the last 10 years, about which the MP Chief Minister did not want to talk about.
