The Congress led UPA government has adopted a "no-response policy" to evade replies in cases of corruption and violation of India's border by Pakistan and China, BJP president Rajnath Singh said on Monday.

"When it is the issue of corruption or attack on our national security by Pakistan and China, the government gives no proper answer in Parliament. They have simply adopted no-response policy," he said at a meeting of party's teachers' wing.

Singh said only BJP is capable of dealing successfully with these challenges and the party will go to polls aiming to win 272 Lok Sabha seats, the minimum number required to form a government.

The BJP chief portrayed party-ruled states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh as models of development even when the national economy is going through a slump.

The development in Gujarat has got accolades from foreign economic experts while the agricultural growth in Madhya Pradesh is higher than any other state, Singh claimed.

Chhattisgarh, another state ruled by BJP, is also praised for its "corruption-free" Public Distribution System, he said.

Singh claimed that when BJP was in power between 1999 and 2004, India was seen as a country which could become economically most powerful by 2020, but things have taken a turn for the worse.

"We may not be perfect but we are most capable of providing a good governance with a human touch," he said, stressing that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first prime minister who connected villages by roads and built world class national highways.

"There was so much of development during Vajpayee's time. He also kept inflation under control," he said.
