The Congress on Saturday alleged Narendra Modi and his close aides were orchestrating a campaign against the CBI as they feared the agency's ongoing probe into the "fake" encounters in Gujarat would bring out the truth.
"It is (Gujarat Chief Minister) Modi's guilt feelings which are propelling him to launch a tirade against the CBI which has exposed misdeeds of leaders of several parties recently," Congress general secretary Madhusudan Mistry said.
The BJP's prime ministerial candidate and his aides had "now realised it is only a matter of time before the ongoing probe into the fake encounters will bring out the truth," he said.

"No other BJP chief minister, whether it is Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh) or Raman Singh (Chhattishgarh), has expressed any doubt regarding the impartiality of the CBI. Why only Modi is afraid of the CBI investigation?" Mistry asked.
Mistry, in-charge of party's affairs in Uttar Pradesh, said Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's October 9 rally in Aligarh would be the launch pad for party's poll campaign.
"Aligarh district witnessed farmers' stir over the land acquisition two years ago. Rahul has made a commitment to the people of this region that justice will be meted out to them even if it requires a fresh legislation," he said.
